A national evening event celebrated all around the Kingdom when Thai people pay respect to the Goddess of water, which also marks the end of the rainy season.

A national evening event all around the Kingdom when Thai people pay respect to the Goddess of water, which marks the end of the rainy season. The Loy Krathong Festival is a floating lanterns festival which takes places on the first evening of the full moon. « Loy » means floating, and « Krathong » means « leaf basket ». Thousands of small lotus-shaped baskets and mini-boats made of banana leaves containing flowers, candles, incense and sometimes coins are floated on rivers, lakes, ponds and water channels all over the country.
